What is Machine Embroidery Format ?

Machine embroidery formats are exported from the embroidery software and are used to run the embroidery machine. You will need to know which format is compatible with your machine. The stitches in machine files can be manipulated to a small degree , but major property changes can only be done in the outline embroidery format. You could say that the stitches have been frozen into the only language the machine understands. There are only a few software programs in which you can make small fixes in machine embroidery format.

Common Machine Embroidery formats are :

  •  Tajima DST
  • Brother PES
  • Pfaff PCS
  • Melco EXP
  • Janome JEF
  • Bernina ART
  • Husqvarna Viking HUS
  • Singer XXX
  • & many more, see complete list here

What is Outline Embroidery Format ?

The outline embroidery format is a native embroidery software format that contains all properties and machine commands. Variables like density and stitch length can be changed, as well as the shapes manipulated when the object file is loaded into the same software program. This outline format file should always be saved and stored with the machine file so it can be used again for any necessary future revisions.
